A look back on the last year of Midday
5/1/2026
One year ago, we launched this show as a way to go deeper into the news, to tell the stories of everyday Utahns, and to get to the heart of the issue on the top stories of the day.
It's been a massive undertaking.... one not normally seen in our industry. From working 12-plus hour days in the beginning to hectically running back-and-forth to interviews, putting this show together has been a challenge. And don't get us wrong -- every second of it has been worth it.
But as with all things... times change. And today... is our last show. Maria Shilaos will continue on Utah's Noon News and the KSL Greenhouse show, but this iteration of Midday is coming to an end.
As we wrap up this final show, we take a few minutes to remember the amazing run we had over the past year.

Deep Dive: Concerns over taxes from unelected officials
4/28/2026
Who has the power the power to tax Utahns? It's supposed to be the elected representatives for your city, county, state, or country. But there's growing concern in Utah that unelected developers are taking advantage of their power to tax people on new developments. Within many of these developments are public infrastructure districts, also known as PIDs.
Utah Investigative Journalism Project's Eric Peterson joins Midday guest host Heather Peterson to break down the issue and what he's found in his research.
